About Lesson

Document reproduction is the process of making duplicates of a source document. In a typical business setting, this can be accomplished with an office printer capable of producing both physical and electronic copies using xerography. Reproduction is an important stage in the preparation of documents for designing, engineering, reference, information, and administration. The method chosen is determined by the quantity of copies required, the time required to create the copies, the level of quality required, and the cost of reproduction. The most frequently used methods reproducing documents are:-

  1. Use of carbon copying: A copy of a document, letter, etc., that is made by using carbon paper.Carbon paper is a sheet of paper with one side coated with a layer of carbon black (soot) bound with wax. When placed between an original and a second piece of paper to be copied, carbon paper transfers marks created by typewriter or pen pressure. When you write your name on the original, your pen leaves an impression on the carbon paper, transferring the carbon black to the second piece of paper.
  2. Duplicating: The act or process of copying. It is a process in which the desired number of copies is prepared from a master copy with the help of a duplicator. Duplication enables you to create copies of your offer quickly and inexpensively, thereby expanding its reach in a cost-effective manner. Duplicating is not the same as copying. Copying is the process of creating a single copy or a small number of copies from the original. When the required number of copies exceeds the capacity of the typewriter, duplication is used. Duplicating machines or duplicators are used to quickly and accurately create circulars, price lists, reports, and office forms.
  3. Photocopying: Photocopying is the process of reproducing book pages and other paper documents using light.Photocopying is widely used in the business, education, and government sectors.Photocopiers are a critical component of almost every business. They include a variety of features that aid in the improvement of work flows and workplace efficiencies. Photocopiers have evolved continuously to become the sophisticated devices they are today, capable of performing a variety of functions in addition to photocopying.
  4. Printing: Printing is a method of reproducing text and images in large quantities using a master form or template.Computer printers are common in households and offices. They are frequently included in computer bundles along with a mouse, keyboard, and monitor. Computer printers are also available in a variety of configurations, from simple, low-cost models to high-end models with numerous features.A computer printer’s primary advantage is convenience. When compared to visiting a commercial printer or office supply store, printing documents at home can save time and money. Additionally, it is an effective method of managing documents and paperwork by creating hard copies for backup purposes or by printing documents or letters that need to be mailed.
  5. Scanning: Document scanning and conversion services enable you to convert physical documents and business assets to a digital format, thereby increasing the efficiency, productivity, and security of your office. It ensures that your documents, files, and records will not be lost in perpetuity regardless of what happens.
