UNIT DESCRIPTION

This unit equips the learner with knowledge, skills and competencies that will enable the certified human resource professional to understand and apply the labour laws and to effectively manage employee relations at the workplace . This unit will cover the understanding of the various labour legislations ,the nature and role of employee relations , frame work of industrial relations in Kenya ,the concept of trade union and trade unionism , managing employee welfare ,managing employee health and safety  , demonstrating the nature of collective bargaining and agreements , understanding the nature of joint consultation and employee participation ,handle grievance and disputes , applications of the ILO conventions and recommendations in managing labour relation as well as identifying emerging issues and trend sin employee relations.
